Gabe Hernandez
Owner, Director of Sales
Philadelphia, PA
From spinning on cupping tables to delivering his family’s coffee in the city, Gabriel Hernandez is carrying out our company’s legacy, one bean at a time.
Gabe, the youngest member of the Hernandez family, has been sipping coffee from his father’s mug for as long as he can remember. Fulfilling a dream he had as a child, he broke into the family business as part-owner at the young age of 20.
Gabe has always looked up to his dad in all that he does. When Obel Sr. asked him what he wanted to be when he grew up, Gabe replied
“An astronaut...or whatever you do, Dad.” (cue heartwarming tears)
While roasting first attracted him to coffee, Gabe is responsible for all regional sales.
He travels across the tri-state area building relationships with like-minded businesses. Sharing coffee with the community is not only Obel’s dream for Bean2Bean, but a part of the job that Gabe holds higher than most.
Gabe spent many a morning joining Obel Sr at “the lab” where the coffee tasting would commence. “I thought my dad was a scientist; I imagined beakers and test tubes everywhere--picture Dexter's Laboratory. I was always blown away when I walked in to realize it was a different lab; it captivated me at such a young age.
“For me, it’s always the people that come first. We can talk numbers, discuss dark vs. light, eventually agree on a roast, but we have to like and trust each other in order to create a successful partnership.”

“One of my first memories was my dad spinning me on the cupping table. I remember the smell of coffee roasting coffee, which as a kid doesn’t smell that great, but something about it was charming to me, even at 5 years old.”
Down the line, Gabe sees himself finally expanding into the roasting world which he believes will bring an elevated experience to his neighborhood and wholesale clients.
“I’d love to be able to roast coffee and deliver a hand-crafted family recipe right to the people I meet. Picture it: I roasted this coffee myself and it’s bomb. My father taught me how to roast and we would love to share our family recipe with you.” A true legacy in the making.
