Ryan Spillman
Photographer, Videographer, Sports Media
Philadelphia, PA
From product photography, to MeetPhiladelphia video shoots, and countless projects in between, Ryan Spillman, photographer and videographer, has helped launch Bean2Bean into the brand it is today.
Back where it all began…
Ryan got his start in the creative world when he left playing lacrosse at Villa Julie to attend Rowan University where he studied Radio, TV, and Film.
“12 years ago I took a photography class in college…gotta start somewhere. It’s actually really nice to see how far I’ve come in something that was just a passion project—now I cannot imagine my life without it.”
Right after college, he began working at 97.5 the Fanatic as the show’s producer, ensuring that hosts, like Mike Missanelli, were prepared with the technical details of running a live show.
From screening calls of raging sports lunatics, to cuing ridiculous sponsor announcements, “…time for the Dr. Scholl's Text Board” and making mini debuts on the show; nothing could turn him away from a life in sports media.
Ryan Spillman & Bean2Bean: A match made in branding heaven.
As small businesses and friends do, we challenged Spillman to get creative with with our products to help gain brand recognition, and he has impressed us more and more with each shoot.
He dedicates his free time to mastering product photography of some of his favorite brands, such as Woodford Reserve and Cape May Brewing Co.—just for fun.
“Figuring out product and lifestyle shots is my meditation. It’s like a light puzzle you have to sit down and figure out each time.”
What he’s up to now:
After spending time shooting and producing videos in healthcare, Ryan landed the job of his dreams, producing shows for the NHL, and recently, the MLB.
“Our department is responsible for bringing all the game feeds into the building, and creating clips for networks like ESPN and Fox News to be featured as their game highlights.”
As hockey season approaches, we don’t know who will win the Stanley Cup this year, but our bet is on Ryan Spillman to produce it.
