Anti-Christ
Lars von Trier
Not Rated | 1h 48min | Drama, Horror, Thriller | 2009
The magnificently controversial director Lars von Trier - known for creating experimental films so dark, most film festivals plan ahead for mass walk outs mid-film showing .
Antichrist is a film about a couples mourning process after the death of their child; set in a remote cabin in the woods. The husband, a psychiatrist, attempts to treat his distraught wife, however, both spiral into unimaginable psychosis. Can I curse on this blog? Charlotte Gainsbourg and Williem Dafoe are so fucking talented; creating such palpable grief the viewer has no choice to dig deep and feel.
Antichrist is not for the “average viewer” - this film was banned for quite some time (still banned in France) due to the many violent and sexual scenes. Being uncomfortable is a beautiful thing.
