For me, Control is the greatest biographical film about a musical artist. A film about Joy Division’s lead singer, Ian Curtis, whose personal and romantic life shaped the single most important post-punk albums, Unknown Pleasures. Unfamiliar with Joy Division? I am sure you’ve seen the cringe reuse of their album artwork around Philly.
Actor Sam Riley delivers a raw, career defining performance playing Ian Curtis; gifted, tormented, overlooked due to talent.
