Control

For me, Control is the greatest biographical film about a musical artist. A film about Joy Division’s lead singer, Ian Curtis, whose personal and romantic life shaped the single most important post-punk albums, Unknown Pleasures. Unfamiliar with Joy Division? I am sure you’ve seen the cringe reuse of their album artwork around Philly.
Actor Sam Riley delivers a raw, career defining performance playing Ian Curtis; gifted, tormented, overlooked due to talent. Ian Curtis hung himself at the young age of 23 in his kitchen several days before a US tour - remember this human - listen to his music - watch this film - take care of yourself - take care of others.
When routine bites hard,
And ambitions are low,
And resentment rides high,
But emotions won't grow,
And we're changing our ways,
Taking different roads.
Then love, love will tear us apart again.
