Funny Games
Dir. Michael Haneke
R | 1h 44min | Crime, Drama, Romance | 2014
I vividly remember, 13 years ago, going to the movie theatre to see Funny Games with my Mother; both wide-eyed with WTF for nearly 2 hours.
Funny Games is a wonderfully uncomfortable version of the cliché ‘family goes on vacation’ horror movie, where two soft-spoken well-dressed gentleman show up at a remote cabin door and just want to play a game. Michael Haneke, who, in my opinion, is the greatest director of our lifetime (I said it!), takes the audience on a wild ride alongside one hell of a cast - Michael Pitt, Brady Corbet, Tim Roth and Naomi Watts effortlessly create a special tension only a director and cast of this caliber can produce.
Funny Games will creep you out so badly, you’ll never buy eggs again; you’ll see.
