g-e-t-o-u-t!! the ghetto
Standing On The Corner is a Brooklyn-based experimental ensemble of artists, making woozy collage-like digital sketches rooted in jazz and hip hop. Their latest project, released as a multi track single, G-E-T-O-U-T!! The Ghetto, features some of their most experimental efforts to date.
The song in the spotlight, G-E-T-O-U-T!! The Ghetto - Pt. II is a distorted, organ-synth led instrumental odyssey. The flowering track blooms in just under five minutes, lacking any distinct vocals, steady drums or common chord progression for listeners to latch onto. Yet it doesn’t leave you lost in it’s sprawling expansiveness; the lead organ remains as a shamanic focal point, guiding listeners through its scattered post-genre landscape.
It explodes in a crescendo of scattered percussive instrumentation early on and holds us suspended in tension before finally descending into distant dissonant yelps, screams and exclamations, as a set of strings welcomes us home.
