Jesus Christ (2005) God Bless America

Jesus Christ (2005) God Bless America
The 1975 is an English pop-rock band formed in 2002. While they’ve been producing a steady stream of indie pop hits, they've recently leveraged their platform and sound to comment on pressing social issues; ranging from inequality, to fraudulence in societal circumstances, to hypocrisy in modern politics, to the effects of drug use, at times highlighting different thought patterns and effects associated with this use from personal experience.
More currently, their album Notes On A Conditional Form screams about modern bigotry and the current mess of America. In hit single Jesus Christ 2005 God Bless America, vocalist Matty Healy, along with guest, Phoebe Bridgers, talk about the hypocrisy behind modern religion and the ways many people have used it to enforce bigotry and hate. They almost mock those who follow blindly as a security blanket.
“I’m in love with a boy I know, But that’s a feeling I can never show… Fortunately, I believe, Lucky me…”
