It’s exciting to see people enjoying jiu jitsu and now we’re gonna do it with coffee.

In conjunction with our newest launch, we have our eyes on the man behind it all. Daniel Gracie and his family were the FIRST to bring the gentle art of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu to America and are expanding their culture with a kick.

Daniel Gracie says growing up in Brazil was the best childhood you could ask for —very old school— people climbing on trees, surfing with friends, practicing jiu jitsu, all while embracing the Brazilian culture that means the world to him.

I think it’s what keeps us alive. Having an identity and knowing you came from a country that has so many strong cultures. You can go all around the world and people are proud to share their culture. We could not be more proud to share Brazilian culture with the world.

“Brazil has a culture that has always involved coffee.”

Daniel remembers sitting with his grandma every morning for breakfast, who would offer the kids coffee with cream and sugar to compliment their papinha which is a bread with a little sugar on top.

“Coffee has always been ingrained in who we are and what we do.”

The Gracie family brought Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu to America with one idea — to show the world that jiu jitsu is the most effective martial art…and they did. With over 50 gyms spanning across PA, NY and the rest of the country, Daniel and his family are introducing Brazilian culture to America, one sip and roll at a time.

It’s exciting to see people enjoying jiu jitsu and now we’re gonna do it with coffee. That’s why its so addictive because people know that something is special there.

This partnership is one that we are very proud of. Stay tuned for more on Gracie Grounds.
